Jake’s Senior Portraits
Jake is a high school senior from Arizona who was in Bend on vacation with his family, exploring all the beauty Central Oregon has to offer. When his mom reached out to me about a Bend Senior Photoshoot, she explained Jake had a vision in mind- he wanted dramatic landscape shots that really captured the natural beauty of the area. After sending him my location guide, he was immediately drawn to the Smith Rock scene. It’s one of the most iconic locations in Central Oregon, and for good reason. The towering rock formations and the expansive views are absolutely breathtaking. What makes it even better is that Smith Rock is accessible year round, which is a huge plus in a place like Central Oregon. So many of our amazingly beautiful spots are only accessible for part of the year due to snow, but Smith Rock is open no matter the season.
Jake and his mom were also drawn to Smith Rock due to how easy it was to get to the spot we wanted (so many details in my location guide!!). The parking lot & bathrooms are just a short walk from the spot we took Jake’s photos- a huge bonus for my friends who aren't quite as adventurous! It made the whole experience smooth and stress-free, especially for Jake’s family. They were so on top of it- they had planned their trip perfectly, knowing they were already dressed and ready for a quick 30-minute photoshoot before heading out to dinner. It was such a nice, relaxed vibe, and Jake was quickly able to relax in front of the camera.
Senior portraits are about so much more than just photographs; they’re a celebration of accomplishments, growth, and the exciting future that lies ahead. They mark a huge milestone in a young person’s life—capturing who they are in that moment, just before they step into the next chapter. How cool is it that Jake chose to do his senior portraits while traveling, embracing the adventure of a place like Bend, Oregon? As a photographer, I’m a little biased, but seriously—what better place for a graduation photoshoot than this stunning area? Good choice, Jake! It was such a pleasure capturing this exciting time in his life.
