Let’s be real- Kevin came to me because he was looking for a Bend Portrait Photographer for a Tinder profile picture. He had recently moved to Bend, Oregon and was looking to meet some new people.
But as we talked more, it became clear that there was more to this than just a dating app photoshoot. Kevin also wanted photos for his social media profiles, his business website, and- perhaps most importantly- photos of him with his dog, Onyx. Onyx, an amazingly well-trained and ridiculously cute mix of German Shepherd and Malinois, had become the most important part of his life. Kevin shared with me that, even though he was just settling into his new life in Bend, he already recognized that these were some of the best years of his life. And someday, when Onyx got older, or when the inevitable time came, he would wish he had more photos of him.
That realization really stuck with me. It's easy to think we have all the time in the world, but we don’t. The simple moments we live with our pets, our families, and our friends pass by so quickly. Photographs capture those fleeting moments, turning them into lasting memories. Kevin’s decision to preserve this time with Onyx through photos was more than just about having a good profile picture- it was about creating something tangible that he could hold onto forever.
Years from now, when we all look back on these days, we'll remember not just how we looked but how we felt in those moments. And the joy and gratitude we’ll feel for the time we had together will be all the more powerful because these photographs froze that time forever.
